Jean Descheenie
MANY FARMS — Services for Jean Descheenie, 87, will be 10 a.m., July 15, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Burial will be in family plot, Lakeside Church, 7 miles east of Conoco.
Visitation will be at Many Farms Catholic Church.
Descheenie died July 10, 2011, in Phoenix. She was born May 16, 1924, in Rough Rock, into the Within His Cover People Clan for the Bitter Water People Clan.
Descheenie enjoyed walking, herding sheep, planting corn and watermelon, and rug weaving.
Survivors include her sons, Tony Descheenie, Tom Descheenie, Joe Descheenie, Johnny Descheenie, all of Many Farms; daughters, Clara D. Begay of Many Farms, Annie Begay of Many Farms, Nellie Descheenie of Valley Store, Chinle, Janet Begay of Plilan Towne; brother, Whitehair Benally; sister, Azonnie Begay; 28 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.
Descheenie was preceded in death by her husband, Deschene “Al’ Tsosie; parents, Whitehair’son Begay, Glibah Begay; sister, Alice B. James.
Pallbearers will be Darryle Begay, Darryleson Begay, Curtis Yazzie Sr., Jerrison Begay.
The family will receive relatives and friends in Many Farms, 3.5 miles north east of Conoco, following services.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family of Jean Descheenie.
Silver Creek Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Bessie Yazzie
SANDERS — Funeral services for Bessie Littlesunday Yazzie, 86, will be 10 a.m., Thursday, July 14, at Sanders Church of God, Sanders. Kenneth Begishe will officiate. Burial will be in Sanders/Newlands Community Cemetery.
Yazzie died July 7, 2011, in Payson. She was born June 4, 1925, in Dennebito Valley, Ariz., into the Jemez People Clan for the Towering House People Clan.
Yazzie was a homemaker, weaver and beloved mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters, Abigail Yazzie of Sanders, Elrene Yazzie of Page; sisters, Mary Badonie, Daisy Littleman, Elizabeth Begay; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
Yazzie was preceded in death by her daughter, Marie Yazzie; brothers, Dan R. Yazzie, Teddy R. Yazzie, Frank R. Yazzie, Jimmy Littlesunday, Ramon Yazzie; sisters, Eva Manybeads, Darlene Jim.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Abigail Yazzie’s residence in Newlands Community, Sanders, following services.
